Sustainable Fashion Week Comes To Chicago
Sustainable Fashion Week announces Chicago, Illinois as a new partner for 2024’s programming, joining the United Kingdom, India, and Papua New Guinea.

CHICAGO: Taking place September 20-29, Sustainable Fashion Week (SFW) will debut with programming for a deeper understanding of fashion that is clean, green, and fair. Presented by Sustainable Business Guide and in partnership with The Nature Museum, The nine-day itinerary includes local mending workshops, clothing swaps, a film screening, activism, bi-partisan policy sessions, and much more. Virtual and in-person opportunities will be available. The official program is available, here to view.
Sustainable Fashion Week Chicago supports local networks, businesses, and the transition to a sustainable future. Through quality education opportunities, resources, and experiences, SFW Chicago has cultivated opportunities to learn about environmental practices within the industry and how consumers, leaders, and businesses can make a positive impact. SFW Chicago is dedicated to making changes within fashion that are realistic and accessible while championing creative action to change the fashion system from the bottom up.

Why I Founded The Sustainable Fashion Week Chicago Hub
We have such a great community and amazing resources in the Chicagoland area. I wanted to lean into that and create something that could bring us together to explore ways we can build the sustainable future we want to be a part of. Fashion is one commonality — we all wear clothes. This is an avenue where we can learn about why sustainable fashion is important, where the items in our closet are made, what sustainability means when choosing what clothes to buy, and how we can make the best choices using the resources available to us.
Most importantly, I want people to feel connected to realistic sustainability. We may see environmental headlines that are confusing or feel overwhelming. Sustainable Fashion Week Chicago is built around education in a non-overwhelming way that showcases the importance of how small sustainable fashion choices add up to create a larger impact. The goal is to support our local community and economy while demonstrating the positive impact we can create when we come together.
Thank You To Our Founding Community Partner
This event wouldn’t be possible without The Nature Museum. The overlapping values of SFW Chicago and its partner, The Nature Museum, shine through. The Museum’s sustainability program, Chicago Conservation Corps (C3), will be directly supporting SFW Chicago 2024. C3 Coordinator, Haven Denson, says, “C3 strives to renew hope in individual and community action in response to climate change and the need to live sustainably. We believe that everyone doing sustainability imperfectly is better than just a few people doing sustainability perfectly. By partnering with Sustainable Fashion Week Chicago, we hope to inspire folks to take meaningful action within their communities in whatever way feels right to them.”
