Is it just me or has February flown by? Grant it, there are only 28 days to this month, but still- how are there a few days remaining? I blinked and it was over. I have made the decision to start incorporating my love for reading into my website more. For those of you who know me personally, you can attest to my passion for books galore. There’s something magical about reading: going on adventures without leaving my home, connecting with others and learning about myself through the author’s words and ideas. Over the course of the next few months expect to see articles about my favorite books, reading list, book hauls, reading nook and more! In other news- I remembered my Goodreads login information and hopped back on the website. I mean it’s only been 2 years since I was able to log in..yikes! I discovered a cool feature on the website. They have a 2018 reading challenge where you can set a personal reading goal for the year and keep track of your progress using the app or website. I decided to set my reading goal for 25 books to read in 2018. I’m nervous for this because I’m recovering from a head injury and reading and writing are still difficult for me. While I am able to do so, it takes three times as long to complete a book and writing tasks. Thank goodness for audiobooks and friends who can read to me!

Let’s switch gears. Today’s post is showcasing five books I have carefully selected to read for the upcoming month. March is going to be exciting! I forgot how much I enjoy picking out books and laying them out to read. It was so much fun shopping my own bookshelves- and my wallet thanked me.

If you want to read along with me, I would love the company. Comment below on this post or say “hi” on my social media to let me know you’re interested!

‘There is only one bond that I trust and that is between a woman and her sisters. Only the three of us are indissoluble. We never take our eyes off each other. In love and rivalry, we always think of each other.’ When Katherine of Aragon is brought to the Tudor court as a young bride, the oldest princess, Margaret, takes her measure. With one look, each knows the other for a rival, an ally, a pawn, destined – with Margaret’s younger sister Mary – to a sisterhood unique in all the world. The three sisters will become the queens of England, Scotland and France. United by family loyalties and affections, the three queens find themselves set against each other. Katherine commands an army against Margaret and kills her husband James IV of Scotland. But Margaret’s boy becomes heir to the Tudor throne when Katherine loses her son. Mary steals the widowed Margaret’s proposed husband, but when Mary is widowed it is her secret marriage for love that is the envy of the others. As they experience betrayals, dangers, loss and passion, the three sisters find that the only constant in their perilous lives is their special bond, more powerful than any man, even a king.

The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war– and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she’s exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice:
BE A WEAPON. OR BE A WARRIOR.

Christian Books For Young Adults to Read

We live in a culture that’s all about self, becoming the best “me” I can be instead of becoming like Jesus. This me-centered message affects every area of our lives—our friendships, our marriages, even our faith—and it breaks each one in different ways. The self-focused life robs our joy, shrinks our souls, and is the reason we never quite break free of insecurity.

In this book, Sharon Hodde Miller invites us into a bigger, Jesus-centered vision—one that restores our freedom and inspires us to live for more. She helps readers
– identify the secret source of insecurity
– understand how self-focus sabotages seven areas of our lives
– learn four practical steps for focusing on God and others
– experience freedom from the burden of self-focus
Anyone yearning for a purpose bigger than “project me” will cherish this paradigm-shifting message of true fulfillment.
