What You Should Know About Macaila
Macaila is native to the Chicago area. She grew up in Elmhurst and currently lives in the Western Suburbs. When she can, Macaila loves traveling — whether it be to a new city and country or to explore the ins and outs of another local town. Most recently she went to Australia to visit a friend she met via the Ethical Influencers community. Together they saw Taylor Swift and explored Sydney and Perth, which was incredible! Macaila’s favorite spot is Jersey, Channel Islands. She loves the people, deep history, and the island’s proximity to mainland U.K.
When she’s not traveling or writing, you can find Macaila on a long nature walk or with an oat milk latte in one hand, snuggling with her adopted rescue cat “Aramis”, and adding one too many books to the TBR pile she says she’ll tackle “on a rainy day” but never does. Macaila loves recommending books, TV shows, and movies to people. So, if you need a suggestion, browse the entertainment section of her blog and ask her for a recommendation!

The Taylor Swift Effect
Macaila is an avid Taylor Swift fan. It all began in October 2006, when Macaila’s neighbors ran over to play her Teardrops On My Guitar. Since then, Macaila has been transfixed by Taylor’s lyrics and sweet melodies. Nearly twenty years later, Macaila is still hunting for easter eggs (iykyk) in album booklets, long drives blasting her favorite songs of the moment, and seeing Taylor in concert — most recently in Sydney, Australia alongside a friend/fellow Swiftie. Macaila’s favorite albums are evermore (deluxe version) and The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology. Taylor’s storytelling has been a driver of Macaila’s journey and is one of the reasons why she is a writer. Though, if you know Macaila or follow her on Instagram, you’ll already know about this!
