I connected with three off the radar brands to feature, providing a review of golf polos that you likely won’t find on the shelves at your local sporting goods store. Rhoback, Tillinger, and lululemon provided pieces for a round of 18 at White Eagle Golf Club (Naperville, IL). Below is a short introduction on each brand, and notes on each of their best-selling polos.

Rhoback

The founders of Rhoback were on a hunt for a shirt that “could transition seamlessly from one activity to the next.” When they couldn’t find it, they decided to make it. They pulled their “favorite designs and colors, mixed in the best performance fabrics” and “made a top of the line set of shirts to fit [their] lifestyle”. The name originates from the Rhodesian Ridgeback dog bred in Africa for the purpose of hunting lions. “The Ridgeback perpetually craves activity and has an unmistakable ridge that runs down its back. Wearing the ridge on our back inspires [them] to always be ready for the next adventure”.

Notes From A Guy’s Perspective:

Cons

  • Buttons seem to be an afterthought. They’re lower quality plastic

Pros

  • Awesome Collar- has a dress shirt feel

  • Polos runs true to size

  • Allows for a lot of movement. 4-Way Stretch- up, down, left, and right

  • Thicker fabric. The thin fabrics gets a little clingy when wet

  • Low maintenance

  • Able to throw this in a gym bag and not have to worry about it wrinkling

Tillinger

The Tillinger story began when the founder, Jordan, was working in NYC during the summer of 2016. The thickness of his business casual attire caused him to sweat even more in the warm and humid environment. After hours, Jordan played a lot golf and enjoys the “more comfortable uniform of performance fabric polo shirts, shorts, and pants.” Unfortunately, he couldn’t sport his golf attire to work as the pieces were “ill-fitting, heavily branded, brightly colored, and very expensive.” Jordan realized “there had to be a way to combine business casual apparel with the performance qualities of golf clothing.” and so, Tillinger was born. The “sweat-management clothing blends inspiration from both golf and fashion to create a modern lifestyle brand that transitions seamlessly from the office, to happy hour, and to weekend golf.”
